How to share a menu with your group
A menu is private until you share it. There are four ways to do that, and which one you choose depends on whether the other person already uses the app and whether you are inviting one person or twenty. This guide covers all four, the roles you can grant, and how to take access back.
Share by link
A share link is the option to reach for when you are pasting into a group chat. Open the menu, choose Share, and create a share link. Anyone who opens it can join — they do not need to be on your friend list first.
The link works for seven days and for as many people as open it. You can revoke it earlier at any time, which stops it working immediately for anyone who has not already joined.
Share by join code
A join code is a short string that someone types into Join with code. It suits reading a code aloud across a room or sending it in a message where a long link would look suspicious.
Unlike the link, a join code is single use: once someone redeems it, it is spent. Create one per person when you want that level of control over who joins.
Both the link and the code carry the role you chose when creating them, so the person joining gets exactly the permissions you intended rather than a default.
Share with friends and groups
If the person is already on your friend list, you can share the menu with them directly and they will see it without redeeming anything. This is the tidiest option for people you order with regularly.
Sharing with a group does the same for everyone in it at once. Add someone to the group later and they see the menus already shared with that group, which saves repeating the invitation every time the team changes.
Roles and taking access back
Every share carries a role. A contributor can add their own choices, an editor can also change the menu itself, and a viewer can look without ordering. Ownership is never transferred by a share.
You can change someone’s role or remove them from the Members page at any time. Removing access does not delete what they already contributed to a finished round, so past receipts stay accurate.
Share a menu
- Does the person I invite need an account?
- Yes. Every share resolves behind sign-in, so the invitation is completed by a real account. Someone without one is guided through sign-up first and then lands back on the invitation.
- What happens if I revoke a share link?
- It stops working immediately for anyone who has not used it yet. People who already joined keep their access until you remove them from the Members page.
- Can I share the same menu with several groups?
- Yes. A menu can be shared with any number of friends and groups at once, and each share carries its own role.
